About Sean and Kerry

Sean and Kerry met on a fateful day in May of 2005. Sean was hosting a pirate party, and Kerry crashed it. Ok, she didn't exactly crash it, but it was close. She got a last minute inviation from an friend and on a whim decided to go.

Sean's first impression of Kerry was that she wasn't the brightest bulb on the tree. Luckily, with her quick wit and game skills she quickly changed his mind. And Kerry's first impression of Sean? Well, it was a crush at almost first sight. By the end of the night Kerry couldn't wait to see Sean again.

3 months after their first meeting, after a few events that Kerry and Sean both claim weren't dates, but an outside observer might have a hard time seeing the difference, Sean and Kerry were about to start officially dating. It was Sept 13, 2005. Kerry's best friend Dayl had just come home from a summer away, and Kerry was dying to introduce her to Sean. That night we all went out to my nieghborhood pub (toby's!) and drank Mohitos. Dayl approved of the boy, and Kerry and Sean started dating that night.

1 year after they started dating in Sept of 2006 Sean asked Kerry to move in with him. With no hesitation she accepted and moved from her funky little commercial drive apartment to the wilds of North Burnaby. It must have been serious for that happen!

After a year of happily living together Sean proposed. In possibly the geekiest and most charming proposal ever, Kerry happily said yes. Oh, you want more details about the proposal?

So, the story:

Sept 13, 2007 was our 2 year anniversary. I can hardly believe that we have been dating for 2 years, and living together for nearly a year. To celebrate the occasion I stayed home all day and did homework, and Sean stayed home and worked from home. At 6:00 we decided it was time to actually start celebrating our anniversary.

We got each other a ton of presents. For the past few weeks Sean and I have been watching old episodes of Alton Brown's show "Good Eats" so I put together a collection of cooking goods that we don't have for him - a wok, fancy salt, that sort of thing. Sean got me the first 15(!!) books of the Laurell K Hamilton "Anita Blake" series, a Van Canto CD, the new Tegan and Sara CD, and tickets to Taming of the Shrew at Bard on the Beach.

After the gift exchange Sean said that he wasn't feeling super great and suggested we stay in and play Tailsman, and of course, I was all for the idea. Tailsman is a game that Sean and I have spent a lot of time playing. It is a fantasy adventure game in which you have a character who goes around the Tailsman board attempting to find and defeat the Dragon King. Sean and I have created custom cards and characters in the past (if anyone ever wants to play, just let me know - we are always up for a game of Tailsman!) Halfway through the game Sean asked me to put on some music, so I put on the GooGoo Dolls album, Iris. We went back to the game. Sean took his turn, and I took mine. I landed on a square that said to draw 2 cards, so I did. And, this was the second one:

I stared blankly at it, and suddenly Sean was on one knee in front of me, holding a ring box. I burst into tears, Sean asked if I would marry him, and I said "Yes!".

So, there it is - now we are engaged. I have a gorgeous white gold and sapphire ring which I can't stop looking at. Sean picked it out himself, and managed to (sneakily!) find out that sapphire is my gemstone of choice.

Now, we are planning the pirate wedding of our dreams, and are looking forward to celebrating our marriage with all our friends and family
